Consecration Renewal – Day 8

Day 8 of Consecration Preparation from 2008 (or renewal)

From “Mary, Human and Holy” (Antonio Bello)
Chapter 7: Woman Who Takes the First Step

With regard to Mary’s hastening to go to her cousin Elizabeth, Bishop Antonio Bello writes:

She decides to move first; no one asks her. She herself undertakes the journey; no one suggests it to her. She resolves to take the first step; she doesn’t wait for other people to take the initiative.

Bishop Bello notes Mary’s enterprising style“,

…which we see again at the wedding in Cana. After sensing the newlyweds’ distress, and although they didn’t ask, she made the first move…

Holy Mary, woman who takes the first step, gentle minister of God’s anticipatory grace, “rise up” again in haste and help us. We need you. Do not wait for our plea, but anticipate our cry for mercy….

…when we knock on heaven’s gate and appear before the Eternal One, let your sentence come first. “Rise up” again from your throne of glory and come to meet us… With a lamp of mercy in your eyes, anticipate his verdict of grace, and forgiveness will be ours. For God’s greatest happiness is to ratify what you have decided.
